We got married back in August and I hired Dylan as a surprise wedding car for Sarah – she was blown away and absolutely loved him!

John and Tracey were pretty good too – whisking us off for a whistle stop tour of Leeds whilst we quaffed champers in the back! Fantastic!

It was a day neither of us will forget and whilst Dylan only played a small part, he still made a bit impact – putting smiles all over our guests faces and leaving us with some awesome shots for our wedding album.

I’d heartily recommend both Dylan and John and Tracey. All three of you were brilliant. :)

  2. Rachelle Mortimer Says:

My new husband treated me to a ride home in ‘Dylan’ for my wedding present, and I must say it was fab! John and Tracy were ever so friendly and made the experience very special!! We will definatley be booking again with Liberty Campers – hopefully for a weekend away!! Thanks again!!

    John

Just a quick note to say thank you for bringing Dylan to share our wedding day in Ilkley. We could not have been happier with the service you provided and some of the photos with the van and the white umbrellas looked fantastic. We would recommend Liberty Campers to anyone that is looking for something different to transport them in style on their wedding day.

    All the best

    Anna & Nick x

  4. Richard and Anji Says:

A big thank you to John and Tracey at Liberty Campers.

We decided a last minute get away to Snowdonia at New Year was just what we needed and hiring Daisy really made the break special.

It was the first time I’d been away in a VW camper and it made touring around easy and practical. Its going to be hard going back to canvas after the convenience of a 12V hook up :)

We’ll be back again when the weather warms up, sorry, is a little dryer.

Until then… Oh, and remember to take your iPod/CDs as the van has a great sound system!

  5. Katrina and Richard Says:

    Hello

I just wanted to say what an honour it was to have Dylan as our wedding car on 9th September!

He was a real talking point with all our guests who loved him just as much as we did.

Tracey and Hannah were brilliant at settling the last minute nerves meaning I could enjoy my last journey as a single woman

Thank you for letting Dylan be part of our day, it wouldnt have been the same without him!

  6. Amanda & The Mamas & Papas team Says:

Just wanted to say a MASSIVE thank you to the very lovely Dylan who really was the star of our Spring 1212 Mamas & Papas baby wear photo shoot.
We set up camp in a drive in studio over in Manchester back on a cold day in October, but looking at our pictures you would have thought they were taken in a California sun set after a hot summers day. Dylan was loved by all the children more than we could have ever imagined, honking the horn and pretending to drive, they laughed and gigged to their hearts content, we could never have wished for a more successful shoot, and I believe Dylan loved it just as much as the kids did!

And finally a big thank you to Tracey for bringing him over to the shoot and making sure he sparkled from every angle, he really was a beauty.

We really hope we get to meet Dylan again or even some of his friends on a future shoot.

Thanks again, Amanda & the M&P team x

  7. Rachael Altoft Says:

We hired Dylan for our wedding in August and he did us proud!! He was a super addition to our perfect chilled out day!!

A fantastic service, Tracey was so helpful and considerate! Thank you so much. We hope to book a different van to go away for our first wedding anniversary!

  8. Emma and David Brewster Says:

As you can clearly see Liberty Campers are a fantastic company. We will be ever thankful to Tracey and John…and Dylan (of course) for all their efforts to make our wedding day so perfect and special. We couldn’t have wished for a more kind, professional and enthusiastic couple to chauffeur us around on our wedding day.
    Thank you again,
    Emma and David Brewster

  9. Dave and Jill Says:

We had Dougal for the weekend of 14/16 October for the Pickering war weekend, He was brill, the perfect host for our adventure. The way that everything was provided, themed with the camper van motif on all the plates, cups spoons etc….amazing. Dougal was so clean tidy and well presented, a real prize, and the drive experience was all part of the adventure!! Such a good deal all round ,thank you.

  10. Nicola Miller Says:

Just got back from a week long trip in Dougal in the lake district. This was our first experience and what a fantastic holiday! Best holiday so far! Will definately be doing this in the future we had so much fun. Thanks to John too for all his help. Dougal is fab and very comfortable and is fully equipped with everything you need for a great camping experience.

  11. martin field Says:

Thank you John (and Dougal of course)for your most excellent service. We had a long weekend away in the dales with Dougal to look after us and thoroughly enjoyed every minute. Dougal is so smart comments overheard through his cute little pop open quarter-lights included “that is the most awesome van!”. He even brought smiles to the faces (and cheery waves from) of a group of weary teenage Dof E hikers. This is a must do again thing….can’t wait. :-) )

  12. Alison and Sarah Says:

Just back from a few days in North Yorkshire with Daisy, brilliant. We can only echo other comments – outstanding service from John and Tracey, and just a wonderful experience to drive and live in a camper (a long-held ambition of ours). Could have done without learning to drive her in the tail-end of a hurricane but that was out of everyone’s control! We’ll be back – thank you for helping us have such a happy holiday experience.

  13. Sanjay and family Says:

Had a great family weekend away with Percy touring the Yorkshire Moors and Dales. John and Tracey were very thorough and helpful. Percy was well presented with everything we needed for a fantastic holiday.

I cannot recommend them highly enough. Personal service, advice and always on the end of a mobile for any ‘in-camper’ questions. Outstanding service!

    Thank you.

  14. stevej131 Says:

Just got back today from taking Daisy to the Lake District for a 3 night break. Had a great time and Daisy was very good – easy to drive and spotlessly clean. And of course very stylish. We are a family of four so my wife and I slept in the main cabin and two boys in the extended roof cabin – easy to set up. Very comfortable too.
Wherever we went we had loads of interest in Daisy. The Lake District was a good choice (mixed weather!) as for a 3 night trip we were able to get there from West Yorkshire quite easiy and there are some great campsites with superb views.

  15. Claire Ward Says:

We can’t thank you enough John & Tracey for letting Dylan be such a special part of our wedding on 18 August 2011.

Your company was an absolute pleasure to deal with throughout, and you were were the most wonderful chauffeurs-patient, generous, kind and punctual-and really helped make our day so perfect.

Everyone loved Dylan-a model fruit cake Dylan was even made to adorn the top of our wedding cake!

Thank you again so so much. Hope to see you again in the future

    Stuart & Claire Denness xx

  16. Suzan Says:

    Suzan, Jennie, Archie & Oliver
    We love Daisy!
We had four fantastic days in various parts of Yorkshire with Daisy. She behaved impeccably and we would love to take her with us on holiday again!
The boys loved sleeping in the ‘roof’ and the rock and roll bed was incredibly comfortable. Our favourite part of having a camper van was being able to set off to our next destination and just choose a beautiful place to stop and have breakfast. That and the admiring glances we got where ever we went.
John was incredibly helpful and we recommend Liberty campers whole heartedly!

  17. Wendy and Steve Says:

    Dear John and Tracey,

We had such a fantastic time when we took a mini break in Daisy last year, we have been looking ever since to get our own. We have decided to spend our kids inheritance and bought a ’62 split sub hatch which is currently undergoing restoration. Should be with us in about 10 weeks – can’t wait to get back on the road and get the smile back on our faces.

Our new lifestyle choice is all down to John, Tracey and of course Daisy It was good to see you both at Harewood on Sunday and we will keep in touch.

    Best wishes
    Wendy and Steve

  18. Abigail Ridehalgh Says:

Daisy became our wedding vehicle and she was amazing – she played the perfect part. Our wedding was a mix of a music festival/Eccentric English tea party/English Fete, and with my husband and I having strong leanings to the 1960s (and early 70s) she fit the part perfectly.
We returned from the ceremony in her to the fields. The guests were camping over, so we decided to camp in style with the help of Daisy. Amazingly we even managed to fit the travel cot of our 1 year old in too (much to my husbands dismay – he wanted our daughter in his parents tent!).
Easy to drive, wonderful to stay in and definitely an amazing part of our wedding. Thank you for making everything so simple Liberty Campers.

  19. Sam Wood Says:

What a great weekend in Whitby with Percy!! Can’t remember when we laughed so many big belly laughs about the simple things in life – a great way to catch up with old friends and chill out.

Thanks Tracey and John for all your help, we will be back!!

  20. Cheryle, Sam and Pauline Says:

My friend wanted to a girlie weekend with a twist, something memorable and fun … driving Percy did not dissappoint. I found the gears and steering extremely hard but once I’d got used to it (pretty quickly in Friday rush hour traffic) it was fantastic. Brian was beautiful and well equipped and we loved the campervan crockery and cutlery. We headed off to Hebden Bridge and unexpected detour to Scunthorpe and then stayed a night in Otley.
It was a squeeze for the 3 of us but we managed and can’t wait to do it again!would

    • Cheryle, Sam and Pauline Says:

Sorry definitely Percy not Brian was our van. Forgot also to thank John for the offer of a test drive.

  21. Colette & Mike Says:

Just returned from a fantastic weekend in the Dales in the company of Poppy. The trip was a birthday present for Colette who has talked about a campervan trip for a long time. Thankfully it did not disappoint. It took a little time to get used to Poppy, who is left hand drive and of a certain age, but it was an absolute pleasure to be behind the wheel. The beauty of driving Poppy is that you are obligated to travel relatively slowly, thereby having the time to soak up the views and enjoy the sheer pleasure of taking your time over something.

Poppy was perfectly equipped and was able to provide for our every need. We were both surprised as to how comfortable a campervan can be – a good night’s sleep was had by all.

We can recommend High Laning campsite at Dent and Wood Nook near Threshfield (a tip from John). A big thanks to John and Tracey for their help in planning our trip and recommendations for places to stay and eat. Their obvious passion for VW’s is infectious and they were always willing to help.

If you have never done this before, we gave it a big thumbs up. We had pretty high hopes and were not let down. Rather than feeling like a normal vehicle hire for the weekend, it felt like we were looking after someone’s child or favourite possession – and we mean that in the nicest possible way. Give it a whirl!

  22. Tim & Chrissy Says:

I had decided where we would go and Chrissy had decided how we would go! For my 40th birthday I wanted to do a tour of Yorkshire and its finest breweries and pubs. Yet right up to the moment we collected Percy I had no idea what Chrissy had planned and as we drove into Addingham I was blindfolded to keep the surprise right up to the last minute.

What a great surprise it was too! We picked Percy up and spent the next week touring the dales, the moors and the coast, from Skipton, to Hawes, to Masham, to Robin Hood’s Bay and all in between. In that time Percy never missed a beat and was impressively capable of going up (and down) several 1:4 inclines we encountered en route. On the way to Tan Hill we even found ourselves caught up in a vintage car rally! Our times weren’t perfect but Percy acquitted himself well on the hill climb section! One of the great things about Percy is that he was fun to drive – something that’s missing in a lot of cars these days.

We certainly attracted attention wherever we went and enjoyed exchanging waves with other camper vans we encountered. Part of the enjoyment was staying at some great sites in the evening and John gave us some recommendations that all came good.

For anyone interested, we recommend the Theakston’s brewery tour in Masham and The Birch Hall Inn in Beck Hole!

All in all a great way to spend time exploring our beautiful country!

  23. Amy Says:

We hired Dougal and travelled to the Isle of Wight festival, it was a great experience and were the envy of a lot of other campers! Dougal attracted a lot of attention in a lovely way and it was an experience we will never forget. Would happily recommend Liberty Campers to anyone they made everything very easy and straight forward. Thanks! Amy.

  24. Toni & Mike Says:

A fantastic weekend was had by all! Percy was a hit with the five of us, especially our three kids ( 9 7 & 5 ) who were grinning and, at times, speechless for much of the weekend. We had great fun travelling to the Yorkshire Moors with many a fellow VW fan waving at us; it was like being in a cool club!
The kids have never been so eager to go to bed at night &, enjoyed the surprisingly spacious pop up roof bed. Even the dog found a spot to sleep in the campervan!
All in all, hubby was very happy with his early Father’s Day surprise, I was happy that the kids were having a ball &, to seal the weekend, Tracey and John thought of everything to ease us in to the campervan way of life: crockery and cups etc for 5 people ( NOT 4 as often the case!! ) & even washing up liquid. Their personable approach was first class.

    THANK YOU! We’ll be back…….

  25. Jonathan White Says:

We had Dylan as our wedding car from Meanwood Church to the Bridge Inn Hotel at wetherby in May2011. For me the whole Dylan experience really topped off a perfect day and Wedding (other than the weather). All our guests said the idea of the VW Bus was great and we have just received our pictures back from the photographer and as you can imagine they look something else with Dylan in the background.
I would like to take this opportunity to say a big thank you to Liberty Campers and recomend them to and Bride and Groom.

  26. Dave and Rhiannon Says:

Just got back from 4 days with Daisy in the Dales. It was a fantastic experience for both my daughter ( aged 12 who is flower power crazy) and me (aged 43 and who had always liked Campers, but never tried one).

It was a bit tricky to drive for about three or four minutes and then the whole slower pace of life thing kicks in. Brilliant fun, well equipped and spotlessly clean!!

Everybody we met wanted to chat, Daisy is a real ice breaker.

    We will be back

  27. Alex Jowett Says:

We hired Dougal for a long weekend and we absolutely adored him. I love VW campers alot and this company managed to give me the perfect weekend in my dream car!
He was comfy, warm and surprisingly spacious inside especially with the awning attached. The sound system was really good and we were soo all singing whilst plodding down the little country roads on the way to a music festival in Leicester. Everyone waved at us as we drove down the streets and it was the best weekend i’ve ever had. the staff were really lovely and showed me their other vans that they own, including a beautiful left hand drive original split screen from the 60′s. i fell a little more in love with campers haha.
the van was exactly what i’d hoped for and more, it even had a fridge and cuttlery that were covered in in camper vans!! how cute!

i will defiantly come to the company again next year and will recommend them to anyone, thank you for an amazing weekend!
    :-)

  28. Jo & Dee Says:

I wanted to thank Tracey and John for making our special day even more special! My partner and I our mad VW campervan fans and our bridesmaids had secretly organized a trip in Dylan the day of our civil partnership ceremony. It was 3 days before Christmas and snow was everywhere, a perfect setting for a drive around the Yorkshire Moors. It was our first trip in a VW and we weren’t disappointed. Tracey and John were fantastic hosts and had thought of everything. Mulled wine, blankets – the lot!

It was such a fantastic idea of our bridesmaids and meant Jo and I could actually spend sometime together on the day of our wedding (doing something we love, we are now looking for our very own VW) . Our photos of Dylan and us in our dresses are beautiful – what a day to remember. Perfect!

    Approve it: http

  29. Bob and Max Says:

Max and I hired Percy April 27th for 3 nights for a father and son camping trip. He is a new addition to the campervan fleet. He was great, drove like a dream, quite nippy too! Everything was in perfect condition when we got him, clean, tidy and comfortable. We took sleeping bags and bought some supplies before we got him and everything else was there to cook with, clean with and survive with.
When we picked him up, Tracy and John were very helpful and friendly. We left the car there over the 3 nights. The van was full of fuel and raring to go. We felt like proper campervaners, it was brill. Can’t recommend this experience enough, we will be back for sure. Thank you for a great time (lots of friends very jealous!)

  30. Jon & Becky Says:

This weekend we returned from a fantastic week with Dougal touring the South-West of England. What can we say? it was fab!!! neither of us had ever camped before and we’re surprised at how comfortable and cosy it could be. Tracey and John thought of everything! from washing up liquid, to salt and pepper, and even a set of boules. Our highlights??? setting out for the first time learning to master the bus-style wheel and old-fashioned gears, fellow VW campervans waving and flashing lights at us, getting cosy in the evening closing the funky, flowery curtains and snuggling down with a hot-water bottle and tea on the stove. It would be shame not mention the great sound system too especially if you have the Beach Boys on your iPod :o ) Overall this was a 5* experience and we’ve already recommended Liberty to all our friends and family. We miss you Dougal! :(

  31. Shaman Durrant Says:

Wow, what can I say! We had previously hired Dylan for our wedding last June and he was the talking point of the whole day! We loved travelling in Dylan from the church to Woodhall and John and Tracey made us feel very relaxed.

My husband has a bit of a campervan obsession and as a surprise I contacted Liberty Campers to arrange a short hire for a tour of the North Yorkshire Moors. As usual, John and Tracey were very professional and friendly and made the whole process very easy! We hired Poppy between 25 and 29 April and we had such a great time! You couldn’t help but be happy driving through the countryside in a campervan – there were very many waves and smiles from everyone else as we went by!

I would suggest anyone thinking of hiring a campervan to go ahead and do it! It has been one of the best weeks we have had and I would highly recommend John and Tracey for all their help and advice, and excellent vans!

  32. Alison Says:

We have just returned from a short break on the East coast in Dougal and had an amazing time. The main reason for hiring a camper van was to try before we buy but once we saw a picture of Dougal we instantly fell in love with him. I hired the van on my own for myself and my daughter and was slightly nervous about getting to grips with driving and parking, but actually found Dougal was a joy to drive and very easy to park.
My daughter Tianna was really excited going to bed in the van and we found it really cosy with all the storage you need. Dougal even got a big hug and a kiss from her every night before she went to bed! It was loads of fun to drive and we felt very special when we got waves from other camper vans.
John was extremely helpful and friendly and provided very thorough instruction on using and driving the van and kindly even agreed to drop the van off for us. Our trip has definitely made my mind up to buy a VW camper but in the mean time we are already planning our next trip and Tianna has her eye on Daisy this time!!
Its great fun and it you want to feel like a big kid all over again you should definitely give it a go.
    Alison and Tianna

  33. Andi, Lisa, Dan, Sophie & Rosie Says:

Found Liberty Campers by searching the web and really glad we did. John & Tracey are really helpful and everything ran smooth through booking to pick up and drop off. Absolutely fantastic, if you are reading this blog and thinking of doing it, don’t think anymore just book it, it’s absolutely fantastic.

We have not stopped smiling yet and already planning our next adventure. We took Daisy up to Northumberland and she was brilliant, lovely, cute and very comfy, the number of people that stopped to ask about her was untrue. We haven’t stopped SMILING!!! without doubt one of the best weeks we have had for ages. Initially the kids 17 & 15 weren’t as keen as we were but thats all changed now. Keep up the good work John & Tracey and see you soon.

Andi, Lisa, Dan, Sophie & Rosie (The dog) xxx

  34. Roger and Vicky Says:

    Dear John and Tracey
Just returned from three nights in Daisy with Joe 8, Livi 7 and Pedro the Labrador. It will be a weekend we will all remember so fondly. Daisy carried the childrens bikes on the back and they had a wonderful time cycling in Norfolk. The 3 best bits apparently were : 1. the fact that other VW campevan drivers flashed their lights and waved 2. The toast in the morning 3. The kids wanted to go to bed for a change.
This was a great holiday, thank you so much.
    Thank you so much.

  35. keith lauren milly Says:

    Hello John and Tracy
Well what can I say… we took Daisy for our pre booked week after our mini break monday to friday and WOW! she kept us warm and dry during some very high winds in the lakes, Once again she stole the show where ever she went and is a star all round. Liberty campers are fantastic and very professional and I can not recommend them enough. One downside to the holiday was we had to return Daisy and I was gutted…… ok lets rehash that bit SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO GUTTED!!!!!I would have been happy to keep her full stop. All I ask now of Liberty (John) is that he seriously considers increasing the Fleet of fantastic vans so that I can hire from them again in June…. Hint Hint Hint John….
So once again THANK YOU SOOOOOOOOOOOO MUCH and hopefully see you in june
Lauren Keith and of course Milly

  36. keith lauren milly Says:

well, we have just taken daisy on a mini break before our week away in her next week… confused.. well i couldnt wait it was tooooooooooo many sleeps till the 28th. Anyway back to Daisy… what a little gem she is… a princess amongest the beasts (caravans) a daisy amongest the thorns (motorhomes). Having hired Dougal for the last two years from John and Tracy I was a little unsure about taking Daisy at first … only because I love Dougal and it just felt wrong BUT! Daisy won me over within a very short amount of time and the super big bed was awesome. Our first stop was a site near whitby called Humble bee farm and its a lovelly dog friendly site. Within seconds of arriving Daisy stole the show, as she did everywhere we went. All tooooooooooo soon our mini break was over and we have returned Daisy to John ready for the next campers to take her for the weekend! only compensation is Monday the 28th March is only 3 sleeps away. Therefore to anyone reading this wondering whether to hire from Liberty campers I would say DO IT. John and Tracy are fantastic and Dougal and Daisy are amazing. Going away in a campervan is a love afair with fun freedom and living the dream…. Which ever camper you take you are sure to turn heads, have fun and want to hire again and again and again… just like us… Anyway watch this space for our next posting…. keith lauren and milly

  37. Justin & Clare Says:

We’ve just returned from a 5 day break hiring Daisy.
We had a fantastic time driving around Yorkshire and Northumberland. The nights were around 0 degrees, but the electric fan heater warmed things up just nice. Daisy was completely reliable and didn’t give us any worries at all, even on muddy fields. There’s a fridge, two-ring gas hob, a little storage space and a wide bed that’s really easy to set up. The pop-up roof is straight forward to put up, and with a bit of patience and common sense, easy enough to put down. All in all we had a great few days and we didn’t want to take her back! We were amazed by how much attention we got, with people looking, taking photos, asking us questions etc..
John and Tracey are keen campers and it shows. They are very professional and friendly. Good luck with the business.
    Thanks again

  38. david daly Says:

    Dear Tracey & John
well, our second visit to Liberty Campers has just ended. We took Daisy for a short week trip around the Dales via Wetherby races (three winners!) and a variety (!) of campsites; thanks to the Angel Inn in Knayton and the Tennents in Kilnsey for their support.
Josh and Sam are now 17 and 14 (see our fist blog on 19/04/09) and they clean forgot they were teenagers this week as they regressed to being kids. Josh is 6′ 2″ but still fitted into the pop top with Sam.
So, back to the day job now and to being a serious adult again, but only for a while until Dougal or Daisy call us back again!!
    thanks Tracey & John

  39. Kev Says:

We hired Dougal for a weekend to try him out with a view to eventually buying our own van, it was the first time we had tried one and it did not dissapoint.

A very wet and windy weekend in the North York Moors and Whitby did not datract from the great fun and freedom that Dougal gave us. Dougal is very well laid out and extremely cosy even with a storm howling outside!

Easy to drive and very practical whether you are on the open road or parking up in the busiest of town center car parks and he certainly draws plenty of admiring glances wherever you take him.

John was very helpful both via e-mail and phone before collecting Dougal and then by giving us a very informative brief when we arrived to collect, the fact that he also let us leave our car with him was a great help.

All in all a great weekend and we can’t wait to do it again, hopefully this time with a bit of sunshine!

  40. Mike & Elaine Says:

We hired Dougal for the weekend just gone and the whole experience was excellent. From the initial contact and booking (simple) to bespoke pick up and drop off times, nothing was too much trouble. Had a great day out at Filey, parked at the top of the cliff and made a brew – with the views along with the peace and quiet, it doesn’t get much better.
The only problem we have now is Elaine wants one…….
Thanks to both John and Tracey.

  41. Robert Jarman Says:

I hired Daisy camper out as a surprise for my girlfriend this valentines weekend. We had a great little trip up to Whitby via Helmsley.
The first night we stopped in the car park by the glider station on Sutton bank and the second night we parked up right on the edge of the beach in Sandsend. It was a fab trip and we really enjoyed wild camping in Daisy. She didnt miss a beat all weekend and is as good as new inside. We want one!!
    Thankyou Liberty campers

  42. Lizzie Hendley Says:

I hired Dylan as a surprise present for a friends Civil Partnership and they absolutely loved him! Both being campervan lovers and hoping to own one in the future, their faces and excitement were priceless!! I knew I had made the right decision to book him by their reaction.

They had a drive around Bolton Abbey with mulled wine and had many pictures with Dylan and thought he was amazing. They couldn’t stop smiling and didn’t want to let him go. I know they are planning on having a trip in one of the other vans in the summer.

John and Tracey have been so helpful over the last few months when I was booking him and were very accomodating especially as it was Christmas week.

I would recommend Dylan to anyone that is looking to make their day extra special or a surprise.

    Thanks again.

    Lizzie

  43. Nathan & Lynsey Says:

    Thank you!
We hired Dylan for our wedding and it was nearly the star of the whole show , even the vicar mentioned him in the service! John and Tracey couldn’t have been any more helpful and friendly from the initial viewing all the way to the big day. As a massive VW nut Dylan was the perfect choice of vehicle and in pristine condition all helping to make it a magical day.

We both just wish the reception was further away so we could have enjoyed the ride for even longer.

    A massive thank you!

    Nathan & Lynsey

  44. Gary & Helen Hobson Says:

    Hi John (and Tracey)

We would like to both say a massive thank you for bringing ‘Dylan’ along to be a BIG part of our fantastic wedding day on the 28th September. You did a wonderful and professional job as our chauffeur and at times as our ‘stand in’ photographer. We both loved being in Dylan on our trips to and from the Register Office. Everyone said Dylan was great and all who jumped into him for a ride had a great time later. Both you and Dylan were missed when you finally left. All heads in Wakefield and Wrenthorpe were turned in our direction and all were in awe of Dylan’s beauty.

We will recommend liberty campers to anyone we speak to and we hope that you get out of your business as much as you put into it. You’re highly recommended.

We’ll look forward to hiring one of the other vans next year for a holiday.

Many thanks and our best wishes.

    Gary & Helen Hobson

  45. Claire & Ian Says:

Hi! I booked Dougal for my Husbands 40th Birthday (a reminder of his childhood days in their family camper!). Really wasn’t sure what to expect, however the service provided by John was brilliant from my initial request. We collected Dougal from Otley on Friday afternoon…Dougal was amazing! Very clean, very comfortable and great fun! Our two kids (12, 10) slept comfortably in the pop up roof and the kitchen area was very well equipped for breakfast by Ullswater!

I would like to thank John and Tracey for a brilliant service which we will definately repeat!

    Thanks again!

Richard booked a weekend in Daisy for my birthday. It was the best birthday present I have EVER had.
John had sent a photo of Daisy that Richard made into a gift card, and the memory of me & three small boys bouncing on the bed with glee when I opened the envelope is one we will both treasure for many years.
Our four year old hugged the van on arrival, and after fitting 3 car seats we escaped across the North York Moors, via Newcastle, Hull & York (a long story…). 60s music works well on the cd player as you drive through Heartbeat country!
The boys fitted well on the sleeping shelf (6,4 & 2), and our youngest is the only reported child to have fallen off it in the night. How he wriggled forwards in his sleep is a mystery, but he had no injuries & went straight back to sleep!
Richard has been thrilled with the care & attention he has had from Liberty, and we were the talk of our street, the school run & now Facebook, where my new profile picture is one of me beaming out of Daisy. I miss her already! Thank you – I can’t wait for my birthday next year now!!

  47. Tracey Says:

Hi Tracey , it’s Tracey ha ha from the wonderful LCC …I just want to say I absolutely love this site its brilliant and very informative.. and seriously in the future if the kids and I decide to do a little touring and camping I will for sure contact you with regard to hiring a Camper, was lovely to have met you bye for now Tracey xx

  48. Michelle & Dave Crowther Says:

My husband and I hired both Daisy & Dougal in May & June this year and we absolutely fell in love with them both!

We used Daisy for our Wedding car at our beautiful Wedding at Harewood House. She looked amazing with the ribbons and bows, everyone loved our funky & different Wedding car! We hired Daisy for the week and so headed off to Filey, Scarborough & Whitby straight after the Wedding for some,’Mini Moon’ fun! Daisy turned the whole campsites heads, and we were waved at and beeped at constantly!

Once we returned from our next Honeymoon, we then took Dougal to Glastonbury! The bright orange van was FAB to have at a festival, easy to find! Dougal was loved by all who camped near us, and we even made some homemade car magnets with , ‘Just Married’ on.. which went down amazingly! Dougal was so much fun and added a touch of coolness, glamour & comfort all rolled into one!

We were so sad to see both Daisy & Dougal go, that we’ve hired Daisy again for Glastonbury 2011. We can’t wait!

Special thanks to Tracy & John for helping to make our Wedding & Honeymoon so memorable, we will treasure the memories & the photos!

    Michelle & Dave xx

  49. Shaman and Carlton Durrant Says:

    Dear Tracey and John.

Dylan was (almost!) the star of our wedding! We hired him for our very special day on 19 June 2010 and he made the day extra special. My bridesmaids (and photographer) were delighted to be taken to the church in Dylan and my husband and I were very excited to be travelling back to Wood Hall as Man and Wife in him!

I also wanted to say a huge thank you for your help and organisation and of course for letting us hire Dylan as our wedding car! We (and everyone else) had so much fun.

    All the best,

    Shaman and Carlton Durrant

  50. Steph & Mike Says:

We took Daisy out for a weekend at Latitude, I must say, driving through a small village with a stunning campervan had people talking! Daisy was fully equipped and very comfortable to sleep in! Through the festival many people came over to look at Daisy in awe! Many thanks to John and Tracey who were very helpful and accomodating. We had no problems with Daisy and she drove beautifully!

    Many thanks!

    Steph & Mike :)

  51. Jenny & Rob Norfolk Says:

  53. Catherine Says:

I work for a charity that wanted to promote the work we do in our area. We decided to hire Dougal for 2 weeks to help us do that. He certainly did we had lots of people coming up to have a look at him which allowed us to speak to them.

We have hired an original 1970′s van previously but found it very difficult to drive, it also smelt very musty and leaked terribly when it rained. We had none of these problems with Dougal he was incredibly easy to drive and the interior was immaculate, with everything you could possibly need.

I enjoyed having him so much that my boyfriend and I will be hiring him for a holiday next year.

Thanks a lot to John and Tracey who did everything they could to be helpful.

    Catherine, LINkrotherham

  54. Donna, Pete & Ava Says:

There are no words for when Dylan arrived at my house on Saturday for my wedding! He was everything I expected and more. He was a big conversation starter and people couldn’t help but smile as he drove past.
    He complimented my bridesmaids beautifully!
My hubby was hugely impressed with him and it has made his craving for one of our own much stronger!
We can’t thank John and Tracey enough for everything, they kept communications going in the months leading upto the wedding, and catered all our needs. And were happy to keep 9 month old Ava occupied while we had a few photos just the two of us, and Dylan!
We had a wonderful wedding day, the weather was glorious and we are so pleased that Dylan was able to share it with us.
    Thanks again John & Tracey x x x

  55. Rach & Mike Says:

We had the beautiful Dylan as our wedding ‘van’ last month; he was definately the star of the day,he went down a treat! When we had our piccies took in him I would of quite liked to have kidnapped him! A huge thanks to Tracey and John, who are lovely, friendly and very helpful (plus they had to endure 3 screaming bridesmaids in the back of him, well one in particular, which I am more than sure you both know who that was Tracey and John!!) So again a big,big thankyou for making our big day even more special, you are stars!xxx

  56. J, Rachel, Oliver & Ella Hodson & Buster Dog Says:

Just back from a 5 day break in dougal with family including Buster the dog. Fantastic handover and information from enthusiastic owners John and Tracey, then began our very relaxing trip to the east coast near Whitby / Robin Hoods Bay. Had a great time with good weather, Dougal was well equiped and was a great temporary home for us all. Attracted lots of attention on the road and was really different to drive. We all enjoyed the experience greatly and will hopefully be taking Dougal out for another outing before too long!! Everyone should have a go at camping this way, it’s fantastically different and relaxing too! We had bike rack and awning too which we felt were both worthwhile additions.

  57. Lauren keith and Milly Says:

Just brought Dougal back , which made us sad as we loved the orange fella to bits, he is fun fantastic and fabulous all wrapped up in one. My daughter hired him for my birhtday for a few days and we were having soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo much fun we extended it for a few days longer. Dougal is everything you can wish for in a campervan, and the holiday is what you as a family or couple and dougal make it, I would recomended liberty campetrs to anyone, miss you dougal see you again soon xxxxxx

  58. claire, nick and elliot Says:

Had a great time in Dougal. Every one should give it a go! In fact we enjoyed the experience so much we are now looking into buying a camper for ourselves.

  59. Lisa & Ben Cocker Says:

We had Dylan along to our wedding and I’ve got to say he probably outshone the bride! Ok, I can’t say that, but seriously, everyone was very impressed, and that’s before even taking into account how friendly Tracey and John are. You won’t meet more helpful, reliable and cheerful people, and right from the moment we considered a VW as a wedding car, we knew they were the way to go. If you’ve got this far thinking about hiring one of their other vans, or having them along to your special occasion as a chauffeur hire, then take it from us – you won’t go wrong with them. Thanks guys!

  60. Peter and Frances Says:

Have had a great week in Daisy with our 2 children aged 7 and 10. Made our way up to Northumberland staying at sites at Barnard Castle, Dunstan Hill and Bellingham all of which were friendly, clean and comfortable. Daisy was a star and attracted lots of admiration! She isn’t fast but gets there in the end. It’s very cosy for 4 so would recommend the awning too. All round a great week. Thanks to John and Tracey.

  61. Richard, Mandy and Catherine Says:

Just back from 2 days in Dougal (but wish it had been much longer) had a fantastic time! Dougal is lovely, has everything you need and just being in the van is a great adventure – plus everyone smiles and waves at you!

It was just so straightforward to book, collect and get off on holiday, can’t recommend it enough – thank you so much!

  62. John and hayley Says:

Have just returned from our first ever trip in a campervan! We were the first people to hire Daisy and spent a fantastic time touring the lakes. Daisy had everything we needed (except bedding of course) resulting in the freedom to take off wherever we wanted. Use the camping site book (glovebox) but if ur planning to head for the lakes try the fallbarrow site in bowness or the castlerigg hall at keswick. Both were absolutely fab and with great views. Daisy is definately a fun way to do a road trip and we would recommend liberty campers to everyone.

  63. Sarah Timmins Says:

I decided to book Dougal for my husbands surprise birthday present, after initially being disappointed that all the vans were all booked up for this date, i was overjoyed when John contacted me to say there had been a cancellation and i made the necessary arrangements for Craig to have the time off work.

John was more than help full with all the plans and as only a few weeks away from our trip, i caved in and told Craig of our adventures to come with Dougal. To say he was excited is a total understatement. Craig being totally obsessed with VW camper vans this was his,and i quote, ” the best f***ing present he has EVER had !!! ”

So a few weeks later we set off to Leeds all packed up with what we needed (not much just sleeping bags and our own essentials) Dougal was equipped with everything we needed and the ever so important kettle !!! The heater John provided was a god send as staying out doors in late Oct/Nov is indeed freezing.

We picked up Dougal and after John spending some time with us going over the controls and how to erect the roof, beds and table,we set off eagerly to our destination,Pendle Hill for some paranormal fun.

Once Craig had got used to the difference in driving Dougal from his own car (many laughs were had by us both at his attempts to get in third gear and reverse ,Craig’s problem not Dougal’s) we found the campsite, hooked up Dougal and settled down for the night getting to know him.

Everything was very easy to set up and the kettle was soon whistling away.

The bed was more comfortable and cosy than our own and we both had a fab nights sleep.

Craig particularly enjoyed cooking his bacon butties on the hob and had soon filled the fridge up with everything we needed.

So we set off on slightly hair raising journey to Pendle Hill, be warned the lanes are narrow,it was my turn to drive for the day and i soon picked up the knack of driving Dougal (much to Craig’s annoyance). Dougal got us round the lanes safely and i was pleased with myself for getting us through some very scary moments (i was more worried about Dougal than us).

On our return to the campsite we were flashed, waved at,and honked at by other drivers which added to the fun of our trip.

The rest of the weekend we spent alot of the time just sitting and taking in Dougals vibes at the campsite,as the weather was particularly bad we didn’t want to risk putting Dougal in any danger but spoke about how great it would be if we had our own Dougal … another reason i made the booking, to help us decide if we should get our own, and yes one day we will be getting our own VW,thanks to the help of John and Dougal convincing us,but until we win the lottery to afford one,we will be looking to book Dougal,Dylan or Daisy some time in the very near (warmer) future.

Thank you to John and Tracey for providing us with some fabtastic memories in Dougal.

    Sarah and Craig Timmins.

  64. David and Maura Says:

Just back from a very wet weekend in the Lakes – Dougal kept us nice and warm and dry and the heater came in handy because they now have electric hook ups at Wasdale Head. We camp a lot but it was fantastic to have a warm orange bus to come back to at night, not a wet miserable tent. We’ve been saving up for a van of our own, a dream would be a splitty but I think first we’ll have to make do with a T25. It was great to have Dougal for a few days though (and yes orange is the best colour). We too got plenty of waves. Unfortunately the Hardknott Pass was closed due to flooding so I didnt get chance to try him over that, but we went the long way round through Ulpha to Broughton (from Wasdale Head) and he did very well on that road. We’d like to say thanks for the great service and for keeping Dougal so clean and tidy. Loved the evolution-of-VW-bus knives and forks, plates and spoons etc, really cute! We’ll give Dougal a wave next time we see him driving through Otley.

  65. Louise and Martin Says:

We had Dougal for the day and had an absolutely brilliant time!
He was in immaculate condition, really comfortable.
We got lots of smiles and waves, which just added to the experience!
Would love to do this again, but for longer.
John and Tracey – are very professional and passionate about the vans, you feel as though you are in good hands.

  66. Mike and Karen Hayes Says:

We picked Dougal up (or rather John picked us up at Leeds coach station in Dougal) last Monday and, after good clear instructions of how everything worked, we set off for a 5 day break. Dougal behaved perfectly and we were soon talking to him like an old friend. We expected smiles and waves from young children, but when a group of teenaged lads waved and took our photo we knew we were really cool! John and Tracey keep him spick and span and kitted out with everything you might need. We had a brilliant time and would definitely do it again.

  67. Chris and Robyn Says:

Dougal took us on an adventure down to Cornwall in August and we instantly fell in love with him! He’s comfy and cosy and with enough room to sprawl out in with a cool drink from his fridge while you whip up a quick meal on his handy stove he’s a great way of seeing the country!

We were sad to see the back of him at the end of the week and take a lot of happy memories of this great holiday with us.

Coming from the North West of England, we found that Liberty were in a great location for us (just a 50 minute drive away) and convenient. Being able to leave our car in the good care of john and Tracey while we made for the West Country meant getting under way was easy and hassle free.

Thanks to John and Tracey for the great, friendly service! We look forward to seeing you (and Dougal) again sometime in the not too distant future for adventure number 2!!!

    Chris and Robyn

  68. Louise and Jonathan Says:

Had a fantastic time in Dougal we absolutely fell in love with him and didn’t want to give him back after having him for 10 days. He took us down to South Devon from Yorkshire with no problem at all, making everyone smile, wave, toot their horns and even one person blowing a kiss as we drove past!! Would recommend Liberty Campers with no hesitiation. Dougal is well equiped and a good choice of extras to add to your hire, thanks again to John and Tracey and a big thank you to Dougal!! P.s he has a lot of admirers who like to have their photo’s taken with him!

  69. Clare & Phil Says:

Dylan is a super star! We hired him for our wedding in August and he looks better in the pictures then we do! If you are thinking of a classic wedding car then Dylan is your number 1 option. We loved every minute we had with him and are very greatful to John and Tracey for making our day so relaxed and special.
    Many many thanks
    Clare and Phil x

  70. Roger & Jo Says:

John and Tracey have done a fab job with their veedubs. Their help was great from first contact to hand-back. We motored over to see the Tour de France and finished up in Dorset at Camp Bestival. It was a big adventure. Yeah, we strongly recommend hiring a camper from Liberty. Many many thanks

  71. Mark and Bernie Says:

We decided to contact Libertycampers to try out a week in a nice new old style vw camper. From google maps Libertycampers was the most convenient place to hire a camper due to the central location between the lake district and the yorkshire dales plus only about 4 and a half hours from stranraer.

John and Tracey were helpful from the first contact and all the arrangements were easily in place with no fuss. We picked up Dougal and set off within an hour of arriving at Otley. For the next seven days Dougal carried us coast to coast with no problems and with alot of smiles. The interior was really well setup and 2 small boys had a whale of a time sleeping in the elevating roof.

We would recommend bringing an awning or hiring one from John as it means you can leave alot of your bits and pieces at the campsite and head off into the sunset with a less cluttered camper. You also have to be alert for other vw campers so you can flash lights or even better use the airhorn on the dash – very nice.

Overall we would recommend liberty campers with no hesitation and say hello to Dougal.

    Mark and Bernie

  72. Helen & Phil Says:

We hired Dylan as our wedding car in June and he stole the show! We turned heads everywhere we went and totally fell in love. Our friends all agreed he was far more impressive than the usual wedding transport.

John and Tracey couldn’t have been more helpful and lovely. I would certainly recommend them, and their beautiful Dylan for your special day.

    Thanks very much for everything
    Helen

  73. Pam, Marc & Helena Says:

We hired Dougal for a week and took him on a camping holiday with our two and a half year olddaughter. She has fallen in love with Dougal – so much so we’ve had to buy her a campervan teeshirt. We had a fantastic time and the attention Dougal brings is great fun. The van was extremely comfy, very clean and reliable. When travelling I was able to sit in the back with my daughter in her car seat and she loved the fact that she had unrestricted views out of all the windows. She also loved sleeping in the top of the van and looking down on us each morning. We have recommended Liberty to all our friends and we hope to be seeing Dougal again soon.

  74. Pam and Trev Says:

We hired Dylan for our daughter’s wedding car. He was everything we expected and much, much more! The bride and bridesmaids never stopped smiling all the way to the church and he attracted attention all along the route, everyone smiling and waving.
Dylan made a big contribution to a fantastic day; John and Tracey were really helpful from day 1 and they helped to relieve anxiety around the planning of such events. They even risked the ‘high seas’ to get over to the Isle of Man for the wedding. The personal touches they added were wonderful and we would highly recommend them to all prospective brides.
    Thank you John and Tracey

  75. Pat and Roy Says:

We had a great Weekend in Dougal VW camper Van. The experience was great. Our friends camp every year in the Yorkshire Dales and it was fun to be with them. We had a great reception at the camp site. We felt special because the van is special.
My husband has had a camper van before but I have never stayed in one. I was a bit sceptic at first but after the weekend we are now looking to buy one.
We would hire one again from Liberty as the service was excellent.
    Thank you Tracey and John,

  76. Rita Says:

We hired Dougal for 4 nights as usually after a couple of nights camping we’re eager to get back to sleeping in our own bed. So it was a pleasant surprise to find the camper bed was snug and comfy, so much so it took a couple of nights to get used to my nice big bed at home again!
Dougal got us over hardknott pass with relative ease (a trip not recommended for the faint hearted) and we too got smiles, waves and flashes wherever we went!
Don’t forget to take your i -pod or cds as Dougal’s sound system is spot on.

  77. David Daly Says:

We came back from a break with Dougal from Liberty yesterday – the four of us had a fantastic time. We haven’t laughed so much in ages – everyone on the road loved the little orange fella, and we got waves and flashed headlights everywhere we went.
We are not typical campers so the fact the van had nearly everything we needed was a blessing.
Tracey and John are really friendly and ready to help, they are clearly nuts abouts vee – dubs and their passion started us off in the right frame of mind.
We will be back as soon as our smiles need topping up!
